San Francisco

Day One: We woke up at my mom's cousin, Susan's house. We had breakfast and she drove us to San Francisco. With her we enjoyed the sight of Golden Gate Park and the Japanese tea gardens. She brought us up to a viewing platform in a nearby art museum where we could see the city. Susan then dropped us off at our motel and we walked to a restaurant for lunch. Following lunch my mom, Pernelle and I walked to get a "MUNI" pass for the cable cars, buses and street cars. The line was too big at the cable cars so we decided to take the buses to the San Francisco side of the golden gate bridge. We got off the bus then walked across the bridge. We returned on the bus and took a break in Union Square. Next we went to a Thai restaurant for dinner and rode the cable cars to a spot near our hotel.

Day Two: We woke up early and ate breakfast at the hotel. Then while it was still early we beat the lines to the cable cars where we rode to Fisherman's Wharf. We then walked around the piers. I had heard about the wax museum there so we decided to check it out. After the wax museum the three of us walked to the curvy part of Lombard street, the most crooked street in the world. We then walked down the hill towards Fisherman's Wharf. We stopped for lunch at a place called the Hollywood Cafe. Then we made our way over to Gharrardelli Square where we went to the original candy shop. We still had time to spare before our four o'clock ferry ride to Alcatraz so we decided to hike up to Coit tower. A lot of steps later we reached the top. We took in the view and some pictures then walked down the descent to Fisherman's Wharf. It was finally nearing time to board so we stood in line at the dock. Before long we were on Alcatraz. The tour through Alcatraz was AMAZING. I had never used on of those audio tours before and I was so impressed. The speakers were old prisoners and wardens. I learned a ton and had fun too. We returned on a ferry (that we caught just in time) and went to the Italian Food restaurant at the hotel to wrap up the night.

Day Three: All we had planned for day three was a trip to Berkeley, which we did in the morning. It ended up turning out we had a lot more time than we expected. So after exploring Berkeley and going up the Berkeley tour we went back to San Francisco and decided to have lunch. We went to some fifties place and then walked to China town. After walking through China town we found the Cable Car museum which was free so we went in it. After learning about how cable cars run and their history we rode one of them back to the union square area. Then we walked to the Contemporary Jewish museum. We went to their exhibits including "Do Not Destroy," "California Dreaming," and "Black Sabbath." I was so impressed, especially by some of the art in "Do Not Destroy." I also learned some interesting facts about Jews in the bay area and soul music. After the museum we went to Abercrombie and Fitch then rode the cable cars for a while. The airport bus was picking us up at six thirty so we ate an early lunch then went back to the hotel.
It was a splendid and jam packed trip!
