Hi, I'm Angela. Welcome to my little space on the internet. I'm eighteen years of age and a first year at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City.  Anyone who knows me well (or has been in any classes with me) would say the title of this blog, Dancing with the Elephants, is fitting. Well, maybe reading with the elephants would be a little better, but that just sounds silly. I did take dance for a number of years, but due to my utter lack of rhythm they were some very long out of synch years. Elephants are one of my very favorite things. Don't ask why, I just always have loved them. 22nd of September is International Elephant Appreciation Day. It's kind of a big deal. No, I am not a republican.

I grew up in a small town in Washington state, but am so grateful to now live in New York City. It is where I feel most at home.

Here's a few things about me in list format since I love making lists:
-I love to travel. My goal for my current passport (expires in 2023) is to get every continent on it. So far I have only two on this one. I have been to 4 continents altogether, though.
-I read a LOT. I'm pretty sure I was the high school librarian's most frequent visitor, I love books because they bring me to places I am unable to see with my own eyes.
-I like to be up to date on current events so I read newspapers and the New Yorker. I want to be a journalist.
- I write for the Columbia Daily Spectator, Columbia's student run newspaper. I am an associate news editor.
-I've been acting in plays since I was three, but there is no way I am good enough to do them in college.
-I am currently writing a novel about a subject very dear to my heart. I hope someday to publish it.
-My mother and I are really close (think Gilmore Girls close) and I miss her very much living so far away.
-Two of my sisters live in Australia.
-I am the youngest of five by 21 years.
-I never leave the house without a book in case something gets boring.
-More to come.

This blog documents my travel. Not just when I am on those literal trips, but my journey through life. I believe everyday is a journey as I travel through college, my daily life, and life in general. I try to make each day special and see the world with glittering eyes.

Thanks for visiting my blog, I hope you find something of interest. And by the way, I love followers!
